KINGSTON LATINO STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION (K.L.S.A.)

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Kingston Latino Students’ Association (K.L.S.A) is to integrate the Latin American community on campus with the large community in Kingston. In association with Kingston Latino Community Association, K.L.S.A. aims to make visible the Latin American community and to raise awareness on the value of our cultures and knowledge both on campus and in Kingston.

CONTRIBUTION TO THE QUEEN'S
AND KINGSTON COMMUNITIES

The goal of K.L.S.A. contributes to both Queen’s and Kingston communities in several ways. First, this goal resonates with Queen’s view on internationalization. K.L.S.A. would facilitate integral support to Latin American students, professors, visiting scholars and staff in order for them to feel at home. Likewise, in collaboration with the undergraduate programs of “Spanish Language and Literature” and “Spanish and Latin American Studies”, K.L.S.A. would offer a unique opportunity for other people to get directly exposed to our languages, cultural expressions, and knowledge of our diverse societies. Second, K.L.S.A. emerges in alliance and collaboration with Kingston Latino Community Association, “the meeting point for the Latin American community and their friends in Kingston, Ontario.” Therefore, K.L.S.A. is from its foundation a Latin American community initiative and project derived from the Kingston Latino Community Association.
